Programmers Talking About Things Other Than Programming (PTATOTP)

The Official PTATOTP Rulebook (v1.0)

So, you know the name. But do you know the game? Here's the classified intel:

  • The Setup: Host Julian Jocque invites a fellow Programmer onto the show.
  • The Topic: Guest picks something they love talking about... that isn't programming.
  • Host's Mission: Like a conversational ninja, Julian attempts to subtly weave programming analogies, terms, or discussions into the chat.
  • Guest's Mission: Have a great conversation! But dodge those programming keywords like they're `SyntaxError`s.
  • The Gotcha: The *instant* the guest utters a forbidden programming term or dives into a programming concept... GAME OVER. The podcast cuts off.

It's a delicate dance. It's slightly absurd. It's PTATOTP.

Meet the Instigator

Julian Jocque is the host and slightly mischievous game master of PTATOTP. By day, he wrangles code. By podcast-time, he wrangles conversations, trying to gently nudge fellow programmers off the safe path of their chosen non-programming topic and back into the familiar-yet-forbidden territory of tech talk.

He believes programmers are interesting people with diverse passions, and also that it's fun to see how long they can avoid mentioning `git commit`.
